Carrots get their yellow orange color due to the presense of carotene. Carrots are rich in vitamin A, B complex, C D, E, K, anti-oxidants, phytochemicals, minerals such as calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, chlorine, sulphur, iron which nourish and moisturise the skin.

Carrots donot contain Vitamin A, but they have carotene in them Our body converts this carotene into Vitamin A as and when needed. carotene is fat soluble. If you drink excess of carrot juice this carotene is stored in the body and is not converted to vitamin A, so Vitamin A toxicity due to excessive intake of carrot juice doesnot arise. It is however advisable to avoid over consumption of carrot juice.

Beautifying properties of carrots

Carrot juice has healing and curative properties for healthy, glowing skin. Vitamin A present in carrots reduce photosensitivity and protect the skin from sun damage. Deficiences of vitamin A cause dryness to the skin, hair and nails. Vitamin prevents premature wrinkling, acne, dry skin, pigmentation, blemishes, uneven skin tone.

carotenes present in carrots bring a beautiful glow on your skin and act against blemishes and uneven skin tone. Puree a carrot and strain it.

  • 2 spoons carrot juice
  • 2 drops honey
  • 1 spoon oatmeal flour (or any flour or clay of your choice)

Mix all these and let work on your skin for 20 mins. Rinse with water.
For oily skin you can even add some cucumber juice to the given recipe and milk for dry skin.
